The city I live in offers free compost. The compost is made up from collected lawn scraps, tree trimmings, and is "seasoned" for some time. It is a very rich material that I wonder if potatoes or other vegetables would grow in by itself, or would it need to be mixed with soil? I was looking at using some raised beds filled with this light material. The price is certainly right if I could use it like it is.
I know Troy used something very similar in his YouTube videos.
"Soil" question
Re: "Soil" question
Thanks for the pointer. Sorry for my late reply. I am only finally catching up on missed work while I was in Australia.
I was getting free mulch last year but the cost of gas at $75 per tank was making it very expensive to pick up. It is not worth it in the end if you need much. I finally just bought a machine off craigslist to make all the mulch I will ever need for myself right here at home.
I figure after a couple truck loads worth, it pays for itself.
