Mosquito Funerary

Post by Dave Thacker » Tue Jul 30, 2013 5:04 am

Troy, ran across a cool video for eliminating thousands of Mosquito's. The main ingredients are simple, a fan and some screen material. The fans in use here are a bit energy hungry. However, it looks like it could be made to work off grid with a variety of units.

The leftovers could be tossed in the compost pile for later veggie production or or left out for to feed and encourage other insect eating insects/frogs and etc.

Wow, that is a LOT of mosquitoes. I cannot afford to run fans like that but there are some other options which require no power which I may try next year.

A solar powered bug zapper worked nicely for me this summer providing instant fresh meat for the chickens each morning. I had it attached above the chicken tractor. Bugs got zapped and fell into the chicken coop below. I will get more of them next year.
