Water supply

Have you looked into setting up a ram pump to supply water for your off grid needs, they are cheap and very effective if you have enough equivalent head or flow to active the pumping effect.

The creek is 1/4 mile from our property and not on our land either sadly. A Ram pump would be awesome for summer use but no good in winter because even the creek freezes up a bit out here. I fear the slow moving ram pump may freeze solid. Or the pipes would slowly sludge up with ice and stop flowing with time.

Aren't there pipes that are meant for conditions like this, Techman? There has to be a solution, I would think.

There is a high cost associated with such a thing though. Now on our new homestead there is no water nearby sadly. But we do have a very nice, clean well.
