Why haven't I thought of this before? A bed house thing!

Troy, if somehow legal or for if you ever bug out, you should make a 7Wx7Hx4L building that will house a thin bed, a small desk to put a cell phone or whatever on, and a door. That'll easily heat up in winter with normal roxul insulation or even cardboard like I have and heat up the only real important things: you and your cat! I was just typing up my playground post a minute or two ago and thought that that is basically exactly what I am doing- having a small heated/cooled place for if there's ever an emergency and just since it's cool looking now. And since it's so small, body heat will help maintain the heat in there!

You could even put a window in there for ventilation and a small inverter/controller for a solar panel on its outside to charge your stuff up.

The only downside is that in the mornings when you go to your tiny house/RV/Christian camper, they'll still be cold. But you could just bring the heater with you there and let it sit for a few minutes while you go back to the little house/shed thing.

I'm just kinda thinking out loud, but I thought it might be helpful to you or anybody who may be in serious financial trouble and only needs a warm place to sleep. This may be what I do while I build my own house in the future for the duration of the construction.

I've the idea. I think I will do that next year. I have always been looking at tiny bug out shelters. Maybe one that can be dropped onto the bed of my truck as needed with cables and a hoist. Pull a trailer behind me that is fully loaded with survival supplies.

Thanks for the idea. The fully insulated point is the good part. Using the radiant foil as well means that it would probably stay warm from breathing

Very true. I wish you the best of luck with you on your tiny cottage construction! By the way, is your Christian Camper still being used solely for storage still? Are all the leaks in it fixed up? Just curious.

Thank you.

The workshop camper is currently a tool storage shed. It is nice to have everything in one neat place for once in my life.

There have been no leaks since the day I patched up the roof. Thats a good thing.

Good to hear. I only asked because I don't think you posted any info about it in a few months so I didn't know if you changed its interior or whatever since then.

I'm absolutely convinced that making good use of really tiny spaces..as you suggest...is positively life saving, for anyone who dares to turn their backs on the social pressure to Own a Smart Residence! It is ridiculous ..to waste a moment taking care of more space than is necessary. I met a bloke recently who had built a micro lightweight, super living space, that he towed quite easily by unassisted push-bike. He wrote about his experiences and planned to develop ideas. For myself...as pensioner..it would be a dreadful waste of micro resources, to occupy a bigger space than I do at present. I love it. Its the smallest, ex-bathroom of a tiny very old house. A large part of the roof of the biggest room, had collapsed, now repaired with metal sheet, and there were just two, small, useful rooms (counting this ex bathroom) and a garden shed/chalet, possible to live in.
First, I insulated the shed..it is tiny, so with minimal outlay, possible to heat with a fan heater.
But I need workspace too so keeping the shed for working, I took Japanese minimalism, as my lifestyle..and now live in exquisite, very basic! comfort, it the tiniest room. I fitted plumbing (there's a river pump) and the electricity was already installed. It is cheap to keep a to keep a space warm IF it is well insulated. The doorway is covered with rugs and so my oil radiator, keeps the heat in. I have a roll up camping mattress, with extra roll up foam, that stows under a worktop, for ultra comfortable sleeping. I am never cold, but my elec bill is tiny. I recommend tiny living! Check tiny homes in Japan. The culture of Japan is never about huge houses. Small and simple.. is peace and joy!
