I found with my Haier fridge a wet towel makes it work better. I have it on my back deck for BBQ's and such but had the same problems. I draped a wet towel over it and have a gallon jug of water with a small hole in the bottom to keep the towel wet. According to my Kill-A-Watt I draw 95 watts running.

Yes that sounds like an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing. I am selling mine though. It is too much of a power hog for off grid living.
