Hi, I've been following your youtube posts for about a month,I stumbled across the video of you following your "new" camper being pulled to the site, while looking for "full time rvers" videos on youtube (the plan I have for myself). I find your videos very compelling because you show us what's happening to you, good or bad. I feel for you when you struggle and when things go great I can hear it in your tone and I feel happy and hopeful for you. I think that's why I look for the latest video each evening (when I know the sun has gone down and you can come inside) I check to see the latest chapter in your saga,if it's there and how long it is. Most of the youtube stuff I have seen, lack that feeling of connection that I see between you and your viewers. I worried when I didn't see anything for a few days, and was relieved to see you were back last night. Any way, the reason for posting here is to point you to a book I think may be useful to you. It's called "All New Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew. I bought this book (actually a much older version) many years ago, when I was living in Switzerland and didn't have my own yard or space. I needed something simple and space saving when my landlord offered me a spot in her plot. I bought this one because of the title. It's very easy to do and when I moved back to the States I used it with my daughter and her second grade class and her girl scout troop. You can find how to videos on youtube I think, and then you wouldn't even need the book. If you want I will buy the Kindle version to download to your computer, that would likely be the easiest way to get it to you. Just let me know.

Take Care, I'll be looking for your next post

Thank you for the info. I would be very happy to get the book. Thanks for the offer. You can email me at info@thediyworld.com

I am experimenting with various gardening ideas this summer. I have a huge meadow to play in but I am here for the people and want to show how to do various methods.

I am amazed at how things turned out with my off grid living and the huge reception I have received from people. It is better than I had ever dreamed. I think loosing my job and apartment are the best thing that could have ever happened to me in a funny way.

I am making so many friends around the world and also learning from others at the same time.

Thank you for being there.

Troy

Hi.....I am new to the forum and have been watching Troy's videos. alot!

Can you tell me why I am so interested in all this stuff! :D solar power and windmills, who would have thought I would ever be hooked on those videos. lol now I'm trying to mastermind a tennis style bug zapping windmill, powered by solar of course. Believe me it will never get off the drawing board, I know nothing about electronics. Man O Man am I learning alot on your You Tube videos!!!!

Last summer was the first time I was ever out of work and so I tried to grow vegetables. I learned alot about seeds the germination process and also...that I still have a brown thumb. I did manage to get alot of landscaping work done around my moblie home and set up 2 raised beds. I was so proud I found all the items from craigslist or just scouting in the neighborhood, but unfortunately the RV/Mobile Park here in Florida did not see the beauty of this project. Really not sure if I want to try again this year on a smaller scale, maybe hydroponic bucket or something???
I am looking forwards to seeing the garden you design and learn how to turn this brown thumb into a green one.
Keep the videos coming!!!! This transplanted Michigander misses the woods!

Hey, thanks for your interest in my work. Hope your garden goes better this year. Sorry for my lateness in responding to this, but I have been swamped with spam posts for so long, its been hard to keep up.

The solar powered bug zapper is actually not that hard to do. You could use some dollar store solar path lights, just as is basically.

Get some of the path lights and use the LEDs to attract bugs to your zapper. Use another one to charge the batteries to run your zapper. They charge in the day and zap all night.

I may try this one day too. Sounds like a cool project.

Thank you so much for the book. I have been studying it and I am sure you see in my videos that it greatly impressed me.

You are also the one who sent me the Foxfire Book, correct?

I love it and am reading it every chance I get. Just a few minutes here and there before I pass out in bed, but I love it.

I know its a little later in the season to be starting a garden but I never thought to ask my landlords permission until now. lol Here are a few pics of the beginning stages. Ive got a ways to go still but its a good start. The pictures are backwards to how I meant to load them but theres too many to change it now. Maybe start at the bottom and work your way up? lol
