I have written a book on how to make your own solar panels for about a dollar per watt. Retail solar panels go for anything between a dollar to $10 per watt. But the shipping will get you even if you find cheaper panels.
The huge thing about making your own solar panels is your skill level and patience. It takes patience to make your own solar panels. And time. But they work. If done right, they can last you many years.
Wind turbines are coming down in price now. You can get them on ebay for about a dollar per watt now.
I have also written articles on how to convert a common table fan or box fan into a wind turbine to produce power. Again, it depends on your skill level. You have to do a bit of machining on the fan armature to get the magnets to fit nicely.
A treadmill motor is the perfect wind turbine generator. Put blades on it, seal it from the weather, put it up and produce power. You can get them for free all over the place.
