Yetti 400

Post by Solar98632 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 10:16 pm

I just 're gently got the Yetti 400.
It is 300 watts with 600 watts pure sign inverter.
It has 2 cooling fans as well.
It comes with a very informative booklet that touches lightly on what kind of light the panels pick up on..UV and iR.

One of the features is the display I will let it speak for it's self.
This is part one of 2 the reply will have the rest of the images

One thing is for sure. You can not complain with regards to the functions on the dispay.

Part 3
So as you can see there iss something for both professional and lay person.
I will be conne ting up to my panels tomorrow

This is considered there mid rang unit.
I will jot be getting the Yetti 1250.

Not for a longtime any ways.
For now this will do me.
I will be giving my mom my LED Tv as our son broke hers.
It is the one way to wrong a right.

Besides I need to down grade any ways to save power. I am going for partial off grid.
I have almost met part one of my goal.

I will need additional panels. To complete the rest.
I will also be looking in to additional batteries for the secondary. System

Say what a secondary system? Yes you heard correct, I am going with 2 systems.
And for a good reason too.

It will be interesting to see who much power I pull in tomorrow.
It will also be interesting to see when my usable power comes in To play.

A special note on the plug.

It has an inner pin, (unknown use)inner ring, and outer ring.
The inner ring and out ring is what carries the voltage from the panels or charging device to the charging circuit.

It will be interesting. To see.

Looks like a very good unit. But then again they do come with a price. Perfect beginners units though because they have everything you need.

I am going to be experimenting with the briefcase solar panel from HF with a portable battery pack from TSC which has its own built in inverter and an 18 AH battery inside. Not much but for mobile power it will be interesting to see how well it performs.

Way cool. On the brief case Solar panels.

Goal zero Will work with their customers, they are willing to adapt an "Anderson Adapter " [ the Yeti 400 has 2 Anderson ports].
It is nice to find a company that will do that.

The Anderson connector will then connect to the charge controller.

Nothing over 400 watts in though it will void the warranty lol.

They said that was a pretty good idea to use the "fused protected connector".

Makes modifying and upgrading super simple.

I can go up to 8 batteries instead of traditional 4..eh it's own charger can handle 4 batteries. Considering how long 1 lasts I think 8 will do well. They are lead acid, sealed with get this...the bolts that connect the battery leads are Alan wrench type..makes one tool for everything.

The people at GoalZero seem to care for their customers as well.
They said they are going to make an adaptation that Will go from the Charge Controller to the Yeti 400's Anderson connector.
That is rare to find iny company.

The Yeti 1250 probably could run every thing you have and then some. If this 300 watt unit can ren a weed sacked I am sure the 1250 could do a lot.

You might want to contact them and see if they will allow you to do a promotion.
The 1250 is a beast of a machine .

The Anderson connectors on that are almost if not the same as your forklift batteries.

The 1250 also has 2 batteries in it and it's inverter can run things like a fridge and possibly an a\c.

At any rate. My TETTI 400 is powering our aquarium on full Sun I run our huge box fan but once the sun starts to go, I switch to on grid.....it is 200 watts on max.
I only have 135 watts max in...so far I never got it up to full 300 watts yet.

Its fans are super quiet.

Come to think of it..the people at GoalZero .must have thought of people wanting to connect higher wattage systems to the thing.
But they do not recommend going over 400 watts...probably cause the want to see their Yeti1250 ..

The units come with 3 fail safes.
1 Anderson connectors are Fused
2 each one of the out lets has a micro circuit breaker including the USB out puts
3 low voltage shut of as well as over voltage in when using the charge port.

I opened the unit up to find 2 things I really liked.
1 is the gauge of the wire is the same gauge they use in high amp stuff. Its super fine high strand wire.

Think of a batter cable miniaturized.

The main board has beefy connections.

I don't know about the cap size

On the interesting side a Yetti 1250 Will run a washer lol.

What I like is that you are out there really pushing the limits of your equipment and testing various things like a washing machine :)

Yetti 400 can't run the washing machine...but one can down size there washer and if need be got to a portable unit.

When I test something I do put it through it paces. I want to know what I can and can not get away with.

When Goal zero meant 300 watts they mean it..there is no "surprises about going over" save for the Yeti 150.

But truth be told. I am glad got this unit.

I have even ran a mixer off the thing lol.

I am how ever unsure if it is analogue or MPPT type of charging .

The Yeti 1250 has MPPT..
But it is also a smart charger it only states what your pulling from the panels not the actual watts being sent from the panels..

Confusing.

ve officialy ran the washing machin for clothes with the Yti 400 However there is no spin cyce, As it sends a 700 wat Spike to kick it in, then it drops it to 153 watts fro the low spin.

I hcan rung the diswahser all day so as long as the heating element isdisconected.

I ran a weed wacker off the thing as well.

to say I pushed it to its limit..yah, Halloween Decorations and dishwasher totalling 356 watts. I turned off the dishwasher the cooling fans kicked in . and I never like to over run my things like that.

The yeti 150 will comfortably handle close to 100 watts. it has an 80 watt max.

Troy, I am not kidding, this thing is doing quite well.
I am able to power Laptop and qite a few things.

you just have to plan what you are going to rn for that day and time.

I think what happens when people get in to the spendy stuff they want to run everything at pnce.

as for Airconditioners ys, I do agree on abeefy system.

so now I am using my fiance's Tv at which is a 12 volt unit. not its not plugged in direct to the c it has a small 12 volt transformer.

I am also running the dishwasher. as well.

If I had the moey I would get the yeti 1250 then I could prbably run the washing machine on high spin.
but for now, I am going to work with I have.

I am done plug and playing , Now I am down to using the thing.

it is nice to know that some things we can already run off grid.
I idisconnected the heating element as out hot water is sufficint enough to wash the dishes.
