Affordable Solar Panels and Miscellanious.

100 watt solar panels $169.00 : http://www.amazon.com/RENOGY-Monocrysta ... panels+12v" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Troy could use the Leds he makes and use a bigger solder board to make some LED Street Lights.

That is NOT a bad price at all.

Thanks for posting this. Anything under $2 per watt retail is pretty good.

You can find solar panels for under $1 per watt but normally the shipping is insane for smaller quantities.

Yeah and they want you to buy them in bulk to get the discount.

Has anyone in this forum made successful home made panels?
I have made 7 but they do not hold up in the cold of winter and the heat of summer.
The last one I made, I dipped the strung cells together into the catolyst and that one is holding up fairly well so far. It is due to the bubbles that create delamination. I finally broke down and bought a 100 W. factory panel to test and it is fantastic.

I have made a lot of solar panels myself and had not trouble with the heat and cold. My only trouble is when I stored them incorrectly and rotted the wood frame. That allowed water to enter the solar panel which degrades the solar cells.

You want an air tight seal to prevent solar cell degradation. Other than that I am not sure what failed on you. Maybe you can post a few photos?
