I have seen a large passive geothermal AC unit working and in operation. It involved a 500 gallon tank underground and pipes running up to a car radiator that had a large fan that blew the cool air into the house via the HVAC ducts. It worked well. This person also had a home made boiler that ran on wood and used the same hoses on it to heat the house in the winter. I wanted to do a video, but he was one of those paranoid preppers and wouldn't let me. I have been wanting to do a similar but smaller system to just cool the bedroom and have it run off of solar with a 55 gallon drum and small 12volt pump and a heat exchanger from a car and a 12 volt fan. It is one of those projects that keep getting put on the back burner though.

I know what you mean. I have a lot of projects on the back burner. Its in a ring binder full of notes and ideas. The list keeps growing so I will never run out of videos.

My biggest block is that I cannot dig here with a shovel. A post hole digger or even a gas powered drill would not work either. I need an excavator which costs money. Hopefully next year I will make my geothermal system. I cant wait. Imagine 50 degrees cold air coming through into your home. Nice.

In Iraq I saw one of those straw water things actually make ice in the heat of their summer...it was unbelievable till you saw it...the used just running water to co the air and it worked fantastic....but there was no humidity like in the states.
