Looking for a circuit or kit

Post by just4havinfun » Tue Feb 17, 2015 8:33 am

Does anyone have a circuit they can share, or even better, a link to a kit for a thermostat control? I need a circuit that I can use to switch a fan on at about 80 degrees and stop when it falls below that threshold.

I needed something similar for a window air conditioner. It was one of the smaller ones and the temp controll on it wasn't very accurate or easy to set. So I got a standard digital wall thermostat and used a christmas light controller. The controller was rated for 15 amps max and the ac used around 15 amps on startup. Just hooked the thermostat to the controller switch so that it would turn on when the temp got above what I set on the thermostat and turn off when it got below that. I had to find a low voltage swith point in the controller because the thermostat was rated for 24 volt controll. Worked fine for about 2 years till the switch relay finally went bad due to the current drain at compressor startup!

I'm looking to drive a 12volt fan. Rainbow makes a kit, I'm not sure how well they work.

Have you tried ebay? Just do a search for one there. They would be quite inexpensive too.
