If I was you I would build a box out of the wood you have with a airspace around it that would enclose you forklift batteries. I would make sure that the bottom is fully solid. Not sure if it is since it is sitting on a pallet. I would make a hinged top for it and then pack it with the cardboard and insulation like you have surrounding it now. After you build the box make sure to seal it to the pallet it is on with caulk so as the snow melts it will not enter the box. after that paint it black. This will help it hold the heat in and should secure it from the mice for the most part. Spray some poison around the box and you should be good.
I have really enjoyed you videos and think if it was me I would just turn off the comments on youtube.
