Re: Is it better to go it alone or in a group?

I don't think that a group of preppers necessarily has to form itself with all the order of a military unit. It may be more appropriate or advantageous to create a loose association of friends. Still...some chain of command will form. It just depends on the situation at hand.

Re: How much food is enough to have stocked away?

I have seen MRE's sold by the pallet, but I don't think this reflects a common price that the average person would have access to. I was attempting to establish a "street" price.

Re: How much food is enough to have stocked away?

We buy the MRE's (meal, ready to eat) by the case of 12 each. They are made by a few different companies. Some are military and others commercially made to military standards. They do last 7 to 10 years. I have seen meals with some ruined items, but not often. These are usually the more delicate ite...

Re: Why should you prep.

@happyhippy This is true. One possible good resource U.K. folks do have is the "Bushcraft" and camping community. I would start there.

There is a good reason why police have partners and soldiers have battle buddies, squads, etc. Communication is key for success.

Re: Why should you prep.

I did a video on that subject having plenty of books that you can learn from or use as a reference is very important. knowledge is power but having the books so others can learn from is worth so much more. Wow! I really love this comment. I think I must have a small library at this point, but there...

Happy to be here. I would love to link up with folks and share info. Thanks. Where are you located? and if anyone is close to your location get together and talk. I already have a small network, but I would love to expand on that. (Ex. link up with Troy, Man of Many Things, Buggin In, etc.) If you ...

Re: Why should you prep.

I think that prepping means being a responsible and concerned citizen that your friends, family, neighbors, and community will come to rely upon in both times of plenty and in times of unrest, uncertainty, and doubt. Personally, I think it should have nothing to do with sitting in a bunker waiting f...

Re: Zoning & Building Codes/Regulations

The situation at the off-grid homestead seems to be resolved for now, but things could turn fragile at any moment. Do you have a few contingency plans for this? I notice a few folks have offered for you to use a portion of their land at one point. Just a thought.
