Re: leaking roof.

I'm sorry to say, Fixing a roof on a RV is NOT Easy Or Simple. I had to totally rebuild a Motorhome roof framing and reseal it, And put a new ceiling in after that was finished. It took about 2.5 months to finish it working on it part time.

Re: Food Preservation

A Solar Dehydrator is definately the way to go for large amounts of Vegtables from a garden, But keep in mind figuring out a way to keep the bugs out while dehydrating the food. And using a 12 volt PC fan to circulate the heat evenly.

ALTERNATE BACKUP POWER

I am really suprized that no one has thought about getting a old or used APC unit and disconnect the internal batteries and connect Deep Cycle 12 volt batteries in parallel for more amp hours. Troy it would be a Idea for your PC and Monitor, And a L.E.D. light or 2. So when the battery bank is down ...

IS YOUR WATER FREEZING

Troy just a thought, How about putting a Add on room to where the wood stove is and your bulk water tank will be heated. Also how about a heat exchanger on the wood stove. A bigger diameter pipe cut at the stove end so it will run horizontal, Slide down to where it is level with your window then ins...

REGULATED HEAT IN A EMERGENCY

As we are seeing Troy's trials and tribulations, I will recommend a back up heat system. 10,000 btu blu flame dual fuel propane heater. My reasoning is when you leave and end up arriving later than you expected the Blu Flame heater is thermostat controlled. So when the heat goes out the Blu flame ki...

Re: ADDITIONAL POWER FOR BATTERY BANK

The Alternator of choice in my opinion is a Delco Remy for a 1977 Gmc Truck you can get a remanufactured one for around $30 at Autozone. Worked perfectly when I built a lawn mower generator I charged a almost Dead Battery in 45 minutes. As far as gas tanks go you can use a plastic boat tank, Or a 5 ...

Re: RV Exterior Improvments

We used to use 2x4 framing staked into the ground under trailers to attach tin skirting too, Then dig a mini trench to drop the bottom of the skirting in the ground to secure it. It eliminates putting screws into the camper.

Re: How to survive a power outage in comfort

Here's my take on the light issue, Purchase a cheap inverter from Harbor Freight or wallmart $20 or less. Purchase some 9 watt Compact Flourescent lights. Go to Good will or Salvation Army Store and purchase some cheap table lamps. And get or use a 100' extension cord. You could also buy a deep cycl...
