Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

Well.. now that all that is gone and stuff is now back to normal, I can resume forum posts! I've been in NY as many subscribed to my channel would know by now and I did some clips of my trip. Since my return from New York, I've finally gotten a few things done and I'm hoping to get some experiments ...

Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

Just an update to what's been going on since the 29th: not much! I have been doing a lot of small work with the place since most of the big stuff needed to be worked on is all done. The leaks are almost fine, as well. It's now warm and humid enough daily for popup storms to be of concern here, as we...

Re: Various methods of heating and cooling discussion

For summer, I have an awning going over my south-facing window that isn't fogged up. It is designed so that the sun's rays over a certain angle in the sky will not be able to make it inside. When the sun gets lower later in the day, the shade of trees' leaves take over. Once winter comes around and ...

Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

Since my last post, I have gotten a third solar panel. It's really helping with my power production and should work great with the air conditioner and heater when needed. I planned on having them turned landscape and stacked. It turns out that having them wide is working a lot better than I thought ...

Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

I also just installed two Insignia speakers to replace my one speaker that was connected to the car radio mounted on the ceiling. It sounds superb and can actually get ear piercingly loud without "cracking up." They may be installed inside or outside, so I can unhook these speakers, put them on some...

Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

No rush on the video; I understand your situation completely! Today got up to 91.2 degrees, the first day above 90 degrees this year. Fortunately, it wasn't humid at all, only at 41%. This morning felt worse at 75% at 75 degrees. I'm slowly getting more and more used to the higher water concentratio...

Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

Since my last post, not too much big work has gone on, but a lot of little work has. A lot of my big work is complete now. I only have a little bit of wall left to cover and all the insulation is done besides in one spot I'll tackle later. Most of the stuff listed is done in chronological order from...

Re: My "off-grid" playground experiment!

Yesterday, I installed the air conditioner where my first DIY hinged window goes. The window will be stored in my room for quick access incase the air conditioner needs to come out for any reason. The air conditioner is very very tight fitting in the opening, but fortunately, it does. I worried that...

Re: Solar furnace

If you insulate the solar heater on the sides and bottom it will perform better. It will be able to retain more of its heat and transfer it to your interior. I did not catch it on video but did you plan to paint the cans black? The cans are spray painted black now if you saw where they were gray, b...

Re: track the sun

Does that mean you're going to cut the tree in front of your house down? The shade will block your solar most of the summer time if not all of it once leaves grow since the sun will be at an angle around 70 degrees in the sky. Having them by your RV and slightly elevated is what I would most recomme...
