Re: sunforce to "wind"force

What you describe is a typical dump load controller, most of them monitor the batteries and when a set point is hit, it will turn on a dump load for X seconds (keeping it from oscillating on and off quickly like your design might do). There is also a PWM dump load controller available that regulates...

Re: Solar hot water using wires and PV panels?

After reading more of the information it looks like the power goes in for hours and adds up over a longer period than the normal time which makes sense for solar power. The big glycol water systems work that way too, you don't get the solar heat all at once, it takes all day. And this system seems t...

Re: Simple Thermoelectric Generator

If your fridge can't create enough ice to support that, which is sort of like running the tubes into the fridge and pumping cold water that way, then you need more energy than your fridge is drawing. A 5000 BTU A/C will take about 500W when running, but in a small space like the trailer it would pro...

Solar hot water using wires and PV panels?

I found this thing interesting, to get solar hot water you only have to run wires instead of pipes and I don't have to change anything major on my water heater. http://techluck.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I don't see why it wouldn't work it uses a MPPT function to get the mos...

Re: Off-Grid Solar Power

People should start with a simple small system and learn how it all works before spending a lot of money on fancy expensive stuff. Start with a 12V system but plan on going 24V someday. One walmart marine deep cycle battery $100, ebay simple charge controller $10, small DC to AC inverter and/or a eb...

Re: Simple Thermoelectric Generator

Yes, it would work and one day I might do it just for fun, but honestly it is much more cost effective to make a windmill or buy solar panels. The thermoelectric generators are very low power per dollar investment. Just for fun they are cool unless you have a couple thousand to invest in a larger s...
