Re: Solar Panels are not created Equal
I do not believe that the solar cells themselves are actually lower grade. The technology is getting better. But, These are very low current solar cells. A solar cell will put out a high No-Load voltage. As soon as you apply any load, the voltage will drop. Even my high end solar panels will do the ...

Re: Hydrogen Booster project
Ok, sorry for the wait. I make these diagrams myself. Not too much of an artist I might add. Here is the wiring diagram: http://www.thediyworld.com/img/Electrical-H2O-Booster-Wiring-Diagram.jpg Connect the negative of the car battery directly to the negative of the hydrogen booster. To tap into the ...

Re: Planning on VWAT
Look at my bike generator page here: http://www.thediyworld.com/DIY-Bicycle-Powered-Generator.php I have used a treadmill motor for this. Yes you can get them all over the place for free. Take out the motor and turn the rest in for scrap metal. A treadmill motor could be used by a creak as a hydro g...

Use a car wheel spindle and rotor. Powerful things that can really take a beating. Mount your generator blades on that.

Re: Wind Gerators and DC Motors/ Solar Power
John Bedini has shown how to spin one motor with another and produce electricity. You need to make a sort of radiant energy circuit with the motor that is being spun up to generate power. The radiant energy pulses from this motor is fed into the battery that powers the first motor, charging it back ...

Re: is it AC or DC
I believe you have a stepper motor because of the 4 wires. I never really got involved in them. They are great for precision controls of robots or printers. Normally a stepper motor turns the wheel which pushes the paper through a printer. Not sure exactly how yours if wired, but normally a stepper ...

Re: Fotocell? Photocell? Light sensitive sensor....
What about using the circuit from the path lights for this project? The circuit already shuts off the circuit when the sun is shining. When light hits the solar cell, the transistor turns off the LED. When there is no light, but transistor turns on the LED. You could use the circuit to turn on a hig...

Re: Home made led light + battery charger.
Nothing beats the real sun for testing solar. But yes, plain old normal light bulbs work better than CCFL. I am going to be making one of these flickering conversions myself soon. Maybe even this week if I get time. I have the parts now. All dollar store stuff. It is interesting that your solar path...

Re: VWATT Wind Generator with Converted Vacum Cleaner Motor
A car alternator needs power to produce power. It has no magnets inside. Instead, it uses electromagnets, which are coils inside that emit a magnetic field when energized. These pass other coils, producing power. Downside is it needs power to produce power. Another down side is that it needs to be s...

Re: is it AC or DC
If it generates electricity, then it has permanent magnets in it, yes. Normally on a DC motor tho the magnets are on the casing, on the outside and the coils spin on the rotor, in the middle.
