I found these little gems on Youtube
12V BoostPack
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPJao1xLe7w
Uses 6x Maxwell 2600 Farad 2.5V Ultracapacitors in series
Recharge time to 14V 20 mins on a 13 watt solar panel for 4 min run time with AC power tools
Hmmm this gives me Ideas
20Mins for 14v for 5 mins AC eavy 20 mins using a Dual Battery Switcher Control board [ www . stewartallen.org/dual-battery-switcher/ ] + relays Plus Mini AC 150W Inverters You can set a bunch up to Supply a AC Charger With Quite a steady supply of AC to make DC
Would love to see them Caps on the 60 Watt solar panel
12V BoostPack + 3 in all in one 150W AC 20W Solar panal

I have spent a long time studying the super caps recently. It would be interesting for one of those emergency lights. The hand crank type that you can wind up for emergency. I have a bunch of them with dead batteries.
I was thinking about putting some super caps in there in place of batteries for real long life survival use. Most of the cheap hand crank lights go bad in a year or so. With a super cap, it would be tens of years.
This morning I watched a youtube vid of a guy starting his car on maxwell super caps.

the brand manufactures just put in the cheapest nasty battery they can find that has a bad Shelf life of 1 year so consumers keep buying them. [Dirty brand trick to stay in Business]
I am Impressed by Ultra Super caps use in cars ( I don't drive btw)
Flat cap and All you do is use a 13 watt Solar cell to jumpstart you car in 20 ~ 40 mins
Or get your self a Hand/Peddle generator
However I do see a problems with cars with the following:
- Heated seats
- Diesel Engines (glow plugs like eating current)

I think i will replace all my dead hand crank lights with capacitors and see how they work.
I would worry about a car alternator burning out. That or something going wrong with the electronics. Maybe older cars can run with a cap, but with today's electronic and complex cars, I would not risk it.
A battery has a huge amount of storage capacity and can smooth out larger drains, such as at idle in the rain with lights and wipers and radio going.
