How To Grow Your Video Channel And Gain More Views

How to grow your channel, gain subscribers and get more video views. This is a multi part series which will guide you through the steps needed in order to grow your video sharing channel.

There are two very important things you can do to increase video views right from the start. The video title and thumbnail are the first things a person sees when searching for something to watch. The video title should be detailed and tell exactly what your video is about. Clickbait is frowned upon and will only hurt you in the long run. This is the trick of putting a catchy title on a video which does not describe the content.

Your title should be clear and to the point but it should not be too short. At least five words are the best and up to 10 words on some platforms. It helps to search around and see how other video titles show up in the search results. This will give you a good idea how to best write your own video titles.

The video thumbnail also grabs a person's attention when searching for a video to watch. Videos with a good thumbnail are more likely to get views than one without.

These two points combined will greatly improve your video views and help you show up in search results.

There is one more very important point which is often overlooked when setting up your video. The video description is a prime piece of real estate on a video sharing site. Here you can give full details about your video. This can include a word by word description of your video or just a good summary. Either way your video description should be at least 4 to 6 paragraphs and contain details about your video.

The search engines and video search results use the video title and video description to see if your video is a match for an online search. Putting important and matching keywords in both the title and description will help you rank higher in search results and increase your overall views. I used my homesteading video for example. The word homestead should show up in the title one time and in the description a few times. The words should be written naturally and should flow nicely. The main idea is to tell a viewer what your video is all about. But also keep in mind that the keywords you use in the description will be used to show your video in search results.

Another way to grow your channel is the channel page itself. Be sure to set up your channel properly and use a good banner image which shows what you are all about. Also use a good thumbnail. The thumbnail shows up next to your videos and comments on many video sharing sites. This is a good opportunity to gain viewers.

Use your channel about page to tell people about your channel. This is the first place a person is going to look when deciding if they want to subscribe to your channel or not. Use a detailed description of your channel here.

Your channel title should be descriptive as well and should tell a person in a few words exactly what your channel is all about. This is going to show up in comments and next to your videos in search results most times. This is a great chance to lure people into your channel.
